The featured artist for this show is Tristan Francis, a native of Ohio who relocated to Portland in 1989.  After several years of exploring several artistic genres he has settled into the medium of mixed material assemblages.  His pieces bring a bit of whimsy and a smile.  Mr. Frances’ work is also shown in galleries in Seattle and California.

Kent Forrester, a talented woodworker will show his handcrafted wooden jigsaw puzzles. He says, “For 28 years, I taught writing, philosophy, and 18th-century British literature in a Kentucky university.  About 10 years ago, I retired to Oregon, where my wife and I lived early in our marriage.  She was from Washington; I was from Compton, California.  We met at the University of Oregon.”

“For the past 40 years of so, I’ve been making things–almost obsessively–out of wood, from woodwind instruments to whimadiddles.  About ten years ago, I started making wooden jigsaw puzzles, largely because they offered a way to incorporate three of my pleasures:  woodworking, art, and even at times a bit of philosophy.”
