Stephanie Cissna, Luminous Views, is the Featured Artist at Full Circle Gallery, October, 2011.
Cissna is a landscape artist, working in acrylics. Her plein air and studio work allows her to spend “time in a place, observing with all the senses, seeing changes in light affecting colors and shadows revealing form, effects of weather and seasons, adds depth to the experience.”
Cissna says, “I sketch and take photos, especially when it is difficult to paint outdoors. I use photographs for reference in my studio work, however the painting takes over with a life of its own. “
Currently I’m drawn to paint moving water and reflections, which I find soothing and healing. I feel fortunate to live in a place surrounded by natural beauty nourished by abundant water. As I study the landscape and find meaning through painting, I hope my art will communicate the pleasure I have experienced and the respect I have for nature.”
Full Circle Gallery is a group exhibiting space, within the 640 Warehouse, where artists’ studios, drawing venues, and exhibits coexist. Also within Full Circle this month can be seen the Kelp wall and pedestal sculptures of Vicky York, the wood pieces by Jim Orman, and oil paintings by June Underwood.
